In all we filled over eighty-five 90-minute cassette tapes during our stays in Nanumea in 1973-74, 1984, 1996, 1998 (Funafuti only) and 2003-2004. Altogether, more than 120 hours of recorded material.
Among these recordings are stories, interviews, logo from elders, viiki and other songs performed at weddings, faatele, string band music, church hymn singing, lauga … We tried to capture a bit of the many goings-on of the fenua. Some of these recordings are here —- more will be added as we digitize them.
