Nanumea from Above

We sometimes get to fly into Funafuti from Fiji and we enjoy views of the lagoon and the town. This is not usually possible for Nanumea, as no planes currently fly there. But here are some photos and images from above…

Not long after Independence in October 1978 a seaplane service to Nanumea was started — See Bee Air. This service only operated for a few years. These photos were taken by Peter McQuarrie in June 1981 and are used with his permission - ko raba Pita!
