Faatele is the characteristic song and dance form of Tuvalu. This style of dance is popular at community gatherings on each Tuvalu island, and in every Nanumean community around the world. Whenever there is a celebration, a community meal, a welcome or going away party, faatele is a part of the occasion.

The first link below takes you to several faatele performed in Naumea in January, 2004 -- the movie quality is limited to the format our small digital camera allowed. But the flavor of things is well represented. The energy of the young people during the all-night Po o Tefolaha dancing in the Ahiga is wonderful!
